According to a survey of 2,000 dog owners, the average dog owner makes 27 decisions per month based on their pet. Dog owners often have to cancel or cut short social plans due to their dog’s needs. Some even adjust their work routines or locations to accommodate their furry companions. The survey found that dog owners with dual incomes and no children (DINKWADs) are particularly invested in their pets. Seventy-one percent of DINKWADs said their life revolves around their dog, compared to 61% of other dog owners. DINKWADs are also more likely to consider their dogs as “children” and make decisions to prioritize their pets’ well-being. DINKWADs spend an average of $172.60 more per year on their dogs, including vet bills, food, and other essentials. DINKWADs are more likely to purchase high-quality pet products, and to celebrate their dog’s birthday with special meals and outings. (Talkerresearch)
