A new study found a concerning trend in Florida, showing a 65% increase in general handgun carrying among teenagers aged 14-17 over the past two decades. The research, based on data from the Florida Youth Substance Abuse Survey, analyzed responses from over 700,000 middle and high school students. While overall handgun carrying rose, carrying firearms in schools decreased by 60%, and favorable attitudes towards school carrying dropped by 39%. The authors emphasized the need for tailored prevention strategies, particularly focusing on female and middle school students, to address the issue. (Cbsnews)
