A recent survey of 1,030 Americans commissioned by Lawsuit.org uncovered some startling misconceptions about July 4th celebrations. More than a third of respondents misspelled “independence,” with common errors including “independance” and “indiependence.” Additionally, the survey found that two in three young adults in Gen Z do not know who America declared independence from, with one in three mistakenly believing it was from Native Americans. Furthermore, respondents struggled with basic American history, with less than 58 percent correctly identifying Great Britain as the country America gained independence from. The survey also revealed confusion about the American flag, with one in ten respondents incorrectly stating the number of stripes. (Studyfinds)
