Week three starts conference play in the Mississippi Valley Conference and it starts with a bang as the Holmen Vikings host conference rival Onalaska in their home opener at Viking Stadium this Friday.
The Vikings have started off the season strong on both sides of the ball outscoring their opponents 97-16 in their two non-conference games. Holmen’s success thus far has mostly been the result of the high powered rushing attack of Elijah Kane (331 yds), Jack Barth (211 yds) and Colin Williams (100 yds) and a stout defense that has allowed just over 300 yards of total offense over their first two games, and just 16 points, resulting in an average scoring differential of 40.5 points per game.
The Hilltoppers bring a balanced offensive attack and stingy defense to Viking Stadium, as well as a 2-0 non-conference record. The Hilltoppers have started their season off strong amassing 434 yards through the air and 373 yds on the ground thanks in part to Ian Kowal (327 yds passing), Kaeson Stettler (179 yds rushing and Luke Siegel (186 yds receiving). The defense has done its part as well allowing 26 points in their season opener and shutting out Medford in week 2 (the only common opponent between both teams this early in the season).
You will not want to miss this week three matchup between two longstanding rivals that are vying to be at the top of the MVC at the end of the regular season and Friday night will be the first step in achieving that goal.
Streams starts at 6:45 pm and kick-off is at 7 pm.
