Boomers’ Weed Use Grows To The Highest It’s Ever Been

A new survey reveals a significant spike in cannabis consumption among senior citizens in the United States. Approximately 7% of adults aged 65 and older reported using marijuana within the past month, marking a 46% increase from 2021 when the figure was 4.8%. The data showed that while men still had higher rates of marijuana use, the increase was more pronounced among women. Additionally, the biggest uptick was observed in the highest income bracket, with adults earning over $75,000 annually going from the lowest use rate in their category in 2021 to the highest in 2023. Experts attribute much of this surge to the growing legalization of cannabis across the country. However, the research also found associations between increased marijuana use and various chronic medical conditions, including heart problems, diabetes, hypertension, and cancer. (Daily Beast)
