Maren Morris released her emotional new song, “I Hope I Never Fall in Love,” on Friday, July 12. The country singer revealed that her recent divorce from Ryan Hurd back in October is at the heart of the new track. In an Instagram reel posted ahead of the song’s release, Morris shared the inspiration behind her new number. “It’s pretty self-explanatory from the title, having just gone through a giant breakup. Just not wanting to go down that path again, and wanting to keep things casual, and really just lean into the ‘situationship’ of it all.” Morris shared more details in a reel on Saturday: “it’s a bittersweet heartbreaker because I’m in self-protection mode but still want to feel things. whatever we need to do to process our pain, it’s not always a pretty road to healing. i, of course, DO want to fall in love again, but I can’t put my heart through it just yet.” (Billboard)
